Child Mental Health

At Growing Minds Therapy, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to feel safe, understood and emotionally supported as they grow.

Our child mental health service helps children and adolescents understand their emotions, develop healthy coping strategies and build the resilience needed to navigate life's challenges. We take a warm, family-centred and evidence-based approach, recognising that every child is unique and that lasting change happens when families are supported alongside them.

Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, low mood, emotional regulation, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), school avoidance, behavioural concerns or significant life transitions, we work collaboratively with children, families and schools to develop practical strategies that build confidence, strengthen relationships and support long-term emotional wellbeing.

What sessions look like

Our child mental health sessions provide a safe, supportive and engaging space where children can explore their thoughts, emotions and experiences. Every session is tailored to your child's individual strengths, needs and goals, using evidence-based approaches to help them develop the skills and confidence to navigate life's challenges.

Depending on your child's needs, sessions may include emotional regulation strategies, anxiety management, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), play-based activities, mindfulness, problem-solving, social skills development and building self-esteem. Therapy is always personalised to support your child's emotional wellbeing and resilience.

We believe parents and caregivers play a vital role in a child's mental health journey. That's why parent education and coaching are incorporated throughout therapy, providing practical strategies to support emotional wellbeing at home and strengthen the skills children are learning in session.

By working collaboratively with families, schools and other health professionals, we help children apply these skills across everyday environments, promoting meaningful, lasting improvements in their emotional wellbeing and overall quality of life.

Our goal isn't for children to become dependent on therapy, it's to empower children and families with the skills, knowledge and confidence to thrive long after they leave our therapy room.
